Very Handy Portable Hard Drive
I have 2 of these portable Western Digital 1tb Hard Drives. These drives are well built and great value for the money. Very quiet and so far very reliable. Small enough to comfortably fit in a pocket. the only gripe I have is that the lead could have been a bit longer but that's just a minor issue. Would I recommend them to my friends ??? WD 1TB HDD. Very pleased to have purchsed it at a really good price. *****
I'm using this as a PVR on my Samsung TV. It is working beautifully......... Note: My Samsung TV uses an XFS file system that encrypts/codes the recording so that it can only be played back on the one unique Samsung TV. The only drawback is that if the file corrupts ( e.g. due to a power cut ), then the TV refuses to read the HDD and demands reformatting hence loss of the saved recordings. (You can still see the files via a Linux Ubuntu PC, but I don't know how to restore the XFS system. ***** A TV problem : - not a HDD problem *****. This drive excels. Using portable WD Elements 1TB usb 3 external hard drived
I use this for storing my video files and playing them through Blue Ray DVD Player on my Sony TV. It works perfect.This has to be formatted FAT32 system. Some gave me lot of trouble like the ones 'Limited Storage, or formatted wrongly, and varied or limted capacity to accept files.' There are distinct problematic behaviour on some which I do not quite understand WD Elements 1TB portable external FAT32 usb 3 external hard drives are perfect.
