The British campaign in the Low Countries in 1813-14 in support of the Dutch revolt against the French is one of the lesser-known campaigns of the Napoleonic Wars, but one which the great historian of the British Army Sir John Fortescue wrote that it was impossible to understand the Waterloo campaign without a knowledge of.

  • Excellent narrative for all - research from Top to Bottom.

The read book reads well for historian or not. There is a level of detail concerning units however not to the point to lose the story. The information is derived from personal accounts and official. Maps: mentioned as a concern often in reviews. Thee are maps, the maps are useful. The main attack on Berg oop Zoom is very exciting to read. As well: not only as Bamford write a companion book of personal accounts this book reads very after reading: THEY FOUGHT WITH EXTRAORDINARY BRAVERY The III German (Saxon) Army Corps in the Southern Netherlands 1814 From Reason to Revolution 1721-1815 #47 By: Geert van Uythoven If a reader wishes a big picture or a complete picture ( as can be ) of the Napoleonic period 1813 - 1814, these two books help fill in the picture. I recommend: Russia Against Napoleon by Dominic Levien. ( from 1812 - 1814 ) Napoleon and Berlin by Michael Leggiere ( Will include some of the same figures such as Bulow, Bernadotte ) Napoleon 1814 : The Defence of France by Andrew Uffindell The Spanish Ulcer by David Gates. I suppose some info concerning Italy.
