WOW! Beautiful, Dark but with heart, Amazingly different take on Santa's origons from Finland.
People around the world are basically very much the same but cultural differences tend to confuse us veiwing them from the otherside of the fence in their dress, physical looks, ways they perceive things and talk...thinking oddly in our way of common ways and thinking. That said....get ready for a strange ride in this movie that threatens to be a horror or wose perhaps a slasher movie...which it isn't but could pich you over a cold icy edge any moment catching you by the seat of your pants. A die-hard horror or slasher fan will be disappointed that this dark Santa movie isn't more of the blood and guts ....as it leads one often to that edge of darkness our imaginations believe is comming our way. Some hopefully desire it to fulfill from the shadows. Some just hope to be brought to the edge of those shadows and not be dragged into a nightmare abyss they can't escape. I felt all of that in this movie....but it was also filled with hardship of a rough life and love of a hard-acting widowed father and his "the real Santa is a bad guy" believing son! This foriegn movie was well made and darkly beautiful to watch and admittedly a bit scary as it was touching at time to watch the difficulties of the father and son trying to understand and watch after each other. Give it a chance and let your heart and imagination ride along this strange weird tale in all its oddness.
