the hottest material minus “acceptable” audio quality
This is one of the hottest jazz albums ever. Unfortunately the CD’s sound quality is barely acceptable. The LP sounded better. And the two live offerings on YouTube sound better as well. However, it is a pleasure to have this complete sound regardless of its quality on a CD, minus a subsequent bonus track. After the performance, Les McCann was awakened the following day by his producers, saying (paraphrased), “Get down here, you won’t believe what we have.“ Les plays the most beautiful piano, with tinges of Professor Longhair, and his vocals on “Compared to What“ have been immortalized here. A cashier in an old record store decades back told me to sell my tools and buy a turntable and if I see certain numbers like this at 100 bucks, don’t hesitate to grab them. “Trying to make it real compared to what!”Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
