Great film making!
I haven't seen other versions of Oliver Twist nor have I seen other DVD releases so I don't have anything else to compare the Criterion release with. I must say though that the Criterion release and the David Lean version are the standards by which all others will be judged. I can't believe it will ever be any better than this combination. Highly recommended.

An all time favorite film
I am a huge fan of the David Lean version of "Oliver Twist." I'm absolutely thrilled to finally own a copy and to add it to my growing classic DVD collection. The DVD quality is excellent, it arrived promptly and the price was very reasonable.

The best film version of Oliver Twist.
David Lean was a genius and had a great artistic eye. This film and his Great Expectations are wonderful film versions of Dickens!

Excellent Black and White Masterpiece
The classic tale of Oliver Twist told by David Lean is nothing short of epic. This is the best-of-the-best in black and white film making! Of all film versions of Oliver Twist this is the Best! Robert Newton stands out in one of his most remarkable roles next to his portrayal in Treasure Island as Long John Silver. A film worthy of multiple showings. A definite must-see classic!

Dickens would approve!
Wonderful casting, wonderful acting. Love it. Anything Dickens seems best around Christmastime, or when you want to look back in time.
