I love watching the re-enactments of historical experiments.
Pleasantly surprised. Am teaching a chemistry lab class at a homeschool co-op. The points in this set of videos parallels the facts presented in "They Mystery of the Periodic Table" by Benjamin Wiker, which is the text I was using for my class. I like how the video re-creates some of the historical experiments done by Lavoisier, Davy, flame tests, and spectroscopy, which are some of the labs I'm doing with my class. Great to see these demos done so deftly, and with period equipment. Very well done, and I would recommend Wiker's book as a companion volume, engagingly (with humor) written for middle-school kids. Is the video worth buying? I've watched it again and again, to hone my ability to do some of the demos/labs, and to pick up on little points of fact, and just to see the costumes. I'm also lending the video out to students to watch at home, since we don't have time in lab. The kids who have watched it so far like it. I don't think they looooove it, but they like it. So yes, we are getting plenty of use out of it.
