I have used a few Analog to Digital video converters. I thought that Canopus ADVC will become my favourite converter. It has such good properties as:
1. most popular Video inputs- Composite and S-Video
2. quality video and sound conversion to DV video at 720x576 and sound at PCM 16Bit / 48kHz Stereo
3. no need for a power adaptor
4. small dimensions and low mass
4. works with Windows 7 64-Bit
5. no need for driver instalation
6. supports PAL, SECAM, and NTSC
7. very stable Video to Audio sync
But sadly it has some weak points too:
1. it may not like the incoming signal of some VHS tapes resulting in severe dropouts of complete frames. Usually output from another VCR helps
2. it does not accept the switching on the TBC (Time Base Corrector) on my Blaupunkt S-VHS VCR
Summary: so for converting my PAL VHS tapes I have switched to my Sony miniDV as converter.
