Fantastic for the price!
The camera was refurbished but practically new. Bought as a present for my mother who enjoys photography but doesn’t want the hassle of a DSLR and lenses but thought I’d test it to make sure she’d like it. It’s a fantastic camera, especially for the price, honestly wasn’t expecting the build quality and image quality to be as good as they are. The zoom is amazing for such a small camera and limiting the camera to just optical zoom in the menu still meant the camera zooms farther than the 300mm lens on my DSLR. The image quality is fantastic, shame the camera doesn’t support RAW but my mother won’t do much cropping or editing anyway. Picks up colours well indoors and outdoors, better than my point and shoot and my mother’s old bridge camera. The biggest surprise for me though was the macro mode. If you’re interested in macro photography I’d definitely recommend this camera. The macro on this camera outperforms the macro on my DSLR lenses that were similar prices to this camera just for the lens. On the wide angle end I could get about an inch away from the subject and have it perfectly in focus, obviously the telephoto end was a little further away but still amazed me. The fact this camera uses AA batteries was also a plus because they’re available everywhere and can be replaced cheaply if on holiday with no worry about recharging them. The burst or continuous shooting mode on this camera is also excellent for a compact entry level bridge camera, only does around 5-7 shots but that’s enough for a sequence if you time it right. The screen is clear and nicely laid out with a couple of different display options and the tilt is great. I doubt my mother will use it much if at all but it’s ideal if you want to take photos from low or high shooting positions without crouching, kneeling or getting on a step ladder. Would also be useful for video making for low down moving or panning shots. The 1080p video is a nice addition to this camera, shoots similar video to a lower end Nikon DSLR, obviously not as crisp but perfect for family video or holidays. The only downsides for me personally are the lack of manual modes (PSAM) and the lack of RAW support. But for an amateur/beginner photographer or someone who doesn’t want or need manual shooting and massive file sizes (like my mother) I couldn’t speak highly enough of this camera, like my mother has always told me “Nikon don’t make crap cameras”.

Simply excellent
Got exactly what I wanted. The 'refurbishment' was imperceptible and the camera looks like it's brand new. The accessories which came with it were just what I needed. Great pictures without any skill
Just got my Nikon coolpix B500 refurbished camera last week, after getting excited about photography with my phone camera. I wanted more and without a bottomless pit of money I started looking at the coolpix range. I wanted to be able to shoot wildlife pictures, and I’ve always looked in awe at other people’s views of the moon.... well since getting mine. I’m delighted with the quality of the shots I’ve got. I’ve used it to shoot video as well as stills..the ease of transfer via WiFi and Bluetooth is great as I can now post shots while out and about. The 40x optical zoom with the VR gives clear pictures even without a tripod. But you will need a tripod for full digital zoom for the clearest shots I’m all I’m delighted with this purchase and would say if like me you have no ability to use a bigger camera and want to just point and shoot ..... then get one they are fun and lightweight the pictures below were taken without tripod and zoomed from a good distance

Great little camera for the keen amateur
Bought to replace an old Nikon Coolpix P150 that has been well used, this newer version is just as good, We use it a lot for macro close-up pictures of flowers and it performs well. The better auto focus on the B500 make this easier to select where to focus the image, which is a great help. The quality of images produced is also very good, as was the original camera. Using standard batteries also makes it far more user-friendly when out and about for a long time. Great camera
Received the camera a day earlier than expected and couldn’t be happier with it for what I needed this for, which is taking photos of my marine aquarium it’s perfect. The manual white balance is very good considering most cameras struggle with the mainly blue LEDs used in the hobby.

Best bridge camera
I really did do my research when looking into buying a camera and it paid off! This camera has helped me produce some fantastic imagery on a recent field trip of not only landscape features but also photographs of friends. I Guess It's alright.
The camera itself is awesome. It's quite easy to use and takes excellent pictures. I love the zoom on this one. Best zoom feature of any camera I ever had. However, after a couple days of use, it doesn't focus anymore. Will try to sort this out but not having much luck. Overall, the camera is brilliant. Love it!
I haven't used the camera very much yet, but the condition is perfect - no dents or scratches and it looks like new! I had to order a manual for it, the main reason why it's not been used too much, as one wasn't included but that's not a problem.
