It's difficult to go wrong with a memory upgrade.
Assuming you have discovered what memory your machine uses and the maximum amount recommended, it's difficult to go wrong with a memory upgrade. Microsoft says you need a minimum of 1GB of memory and a 1GHz processor to run Windows 32 bit version and 2GB of memory for the 64 bit version. They don't say if the minimum recommended processor is a single core, dual core or higher. It has been my experience that these numbers need to be twice the recommended. The processor should be at least 2.8GHz Hipper Threaded for 32 bit and 2.6GHz dual core for 64 bit. If the memory is below my recommended you will experience what is called disk thrashing, where the OS is constantly reading and writing to disk to make more memory to service your request and you will wait for this to occur. If the processor is below my recommended, you will have trouble with multitasking. This is especially noticeable when you turn on the machine and it decides to do updates and you can't do anything else. Microsoft makes no recommendation for Hard Drives (that I'm aware of), but many manufactured machines come with 5400 RPM drives (specially in the i3 and lower segment) that can be a huge slow down for your machine. The hard drive should be at least 7200 RPM. Yes, SSDs are a big improvement over traditional drives, but is your machine ready to handle it? Unfortunately, manufactures follow Microsoft's recommendations, specially in the cheaper segment of machines (i3 and below) and then load it up with bloat ware, that makes it even slower. If you have more than 40 (48 worst case for laptops) processes running at idle (after 10 min of booting (assuming the machine is not updating)) it is likely you have bloat ware. Memory is a good place to start speeding up your machine, but as you can see, it's the interaction of all the components and loaded software that make a machine fast, slow or just usable.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
