Good Read
Read "Falls of the Shadow" by this author first. Very compelling story of the 13th century struggle of the Welsh lords for Welsh independents from the English crown. The author makes you want to see a better outcome, but you probably know enough history to figure out that it not going to turn out well.

Some of the best historical fiction ever written. Accurate and compelling.
Penman is a meticulous researcher who knows exactly how to convey detail without being tedious. Her ability to present dozens of characters without ever confusing the reader speaks to her ability to render three-dimensional portraits of real people who led real lives. You can’t go wrong with this book and the surrounding Welsh Trilogy.
