The RCA 6SJ7 vintage tube set is a proven choice for your amplification needs. The 6SJ7 is an opaque black tube and tube socket, which has been manufactured by a trusted name. RCA, the best! Don't cheap out!
My favorite preamp tube is the 6SJ7. You can buy new Russian ones which aren't bad at all, but these are cheap as chips so why bother! The RCA is the best for me. Detailed, warm, and very musical. My favorite guitar amps (Magantone Varsity, 'B' Swingmaster amp, Gibson BR-6F) use this as the first gain stage and my own home made Single ended 45 stereo uses these as a driver tube.
