Will the Real Johnny Depp Please Stand UP
Hollywood writers can seldom write a part up to the talents of Johnny Depp. The man owns the part making his characters real and believable on the big screen. Whether he is a killer or a moronic Hercule Poirot, he plays his part/s to perfection. In this movie Johnny Depp's character is a bumbling Hercule Poirot type character with an adoring wife (Gwyneth Paltrow - excellent in the part) that ties up the many loose ends her aristocratic husband leaves tangling. It is a cute entertaining movie, but does have a very weak script. Somewhere between the pink panther's Chief Inspector Jacques Clouseau and Inspector Hercule Poirot the script lets the audience down and wastes the talents of the all star cast. Better Hollywood dialog and plot writing could have made this film a magical combination for a new and widely missed series to compete with the late Peter Sellers.

Johnny Depp’s performance is once again top notch. Great story, very entertaining.
I like the characters and how they interact to tell the story. The cast is great. I am a long time Johnny Depp fan which makes this a movie a win no matter what!

A Mostly Bad Movie!
Found the excessive foul language offensive and the whole movie rather silly. Johnny Depp did a good job with what he had to work with but it was overall a mostly bad movie.

DVD works great ,the movie it is of course splendid best cast ever. Screenplay is witty and just hilarious,plenty of action and well put together plots

The Movie Nut
Really funny movie. If you like Peter Sellers, then you'll LOVE this movie. Johnny Depp goes up and beyond in his comedy routine on this movie. Ewan McGregor and Gwyneth also have the perfect part which only enhances Johnny's Depp as Mortdecai , the true crazy detective.

I laughed until my sides ached. Shades of Terry Thomas revisited. Wonderful job by all of the actors.
I would recommend this DVD to any who need a good belly laugh. Good clean fun and worth every penny.

One of the funniest movies since A Fish Called Wanda
My wife and I almost never re-watch movies, but we've seen this twice and got more out of it (and laughed at different spots) than the first time. Watch the bonus too - hilarious!

Perfect for the movie, intriguing to find out about who he is
It is one of the most underrated movies. Johnny Depp is at his best, but you must understand and appreciate British humor. There are a lot of slight references to British food and local shops and some common expressions non-Brits might not get. But Johnny is brilliant as always and carries the movie.
