Best DVD version
Kubrick specifically shot his films in fullscreen, so they could be matted in theaters for widescreen and air on TV without cropping. Smart guy - but this has led to confusion on DVD releases of his films, which usually only feature the fullscreen version. However this 2-disc special edition of "The Shining" features the theatrical matted version, enhanced for widescreen TVs and also includes lots of bonus material.
