Product Information

Enhance your guitar playing with the Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler guitar effects pedal. By stepping on the multi-effects pedal, you'll be able to add chorus, reverb, and distortion to your guitar signal. Moreover, you can create up to five parameters per effect and custom presets for easy access while playing. Durable and ready to use for your next set on stage, this pedal board plugs right into your guitar and amp via 1/4-inch pedal jack. Use the built-in chromatic tuner to stay in tune or the tap tempo for time-based effects. The easy-to-use knobs let you control the parameters and keep you sounding good during the show. You can use the M5 Stompbox Modeler with your bass guitar or keyboard as well. In fact, this product can be the "Swiss army knife" of guitar accessories and gear chains. It can integrate into your board, MIDI setup, or other scenarios. With a wide array of effects options, you can choose the output sound that you want for your guitar. Add just the distortion or effect you choose for every song. The gear has 19 distortions and 12 reverb settings available. Among the different distortions, overdrive and classic fuzz options are available. The Line 6 M5 Stompbox Modeler also has a volume setting that allows you to produce steel-style swells. You can also use gain, level, or another sound parameter to determine how potent the effect will be on the output signal. The effects produced by this pedal are properties of a wave. If you shrink that single wave, that effect can be minimized; by expanding it, the effect is maximized. Users can control up to five separate parameters for each of the effects. You can use the M5 Stompbox Modeler anywhere in-line with your other pedals on the stage, in the studio, or in your practice space. When you do, you can also take advantage of its True Analog Bypass and DSP Bypass for the best effect outcomes. With this device, changing effects and sounds from your guitars is made simple. A guitarist can save up to 24 customized presets for easy access while playing. Since the Stompbox works well with other pedals, you can feel free to add more accessories to your chain. The controls make it easy to switch from clean playing to an effects-laden signal. This item features the algorithm of the green DL4 delay monitor, making it an excellent choice for delay effects. One of the delays available is called Ping-Pong, which features two separate channels of delayed sound. The output of each channel bounces into the other to create the ping pong effect. This device is like packing 50 years of classic guitar effects into one package. It includes a durable and precise tuner and many inputs and outputs to easily connect to your board. It also includes a MIDI setup for studio, live, and practice options. The 2.5-pound Stompbox measures 6 inches wide, 2.4 inches high, and 6.5 inches deep. The included DC power supply is multi-voltage, with 100-240V available input.

  • Almost perfect

This pedal is perfect for anyone who is running their complex delay/reverb/ambience stuff in an effects loop, but needs a 'swiss army knife' pedal for effects that need to go in front of the amp (distortion, wah, phaser, etc.). I was playing in the pit for our local HS musical last fall (they haven't had any electric guitarists...or bassists or drummers for that matter... in the student population for the last 7-8 years...I blame vocalist-centric reality TV shows....but I digress). The show was "Sister Act" and, unlike the R&B tinged '92 movie, the (2006) stage musical is all late 70's disco style. Needless to say, I needed a wah-wah pedal. Instead of shelling out the same amount for a decent 'one-trick-pony' wah pedal, I opted for this unit, as I have been looking for a multi-function 'in-front-of-the-amp' pedal for a while, and I already had an expression pedal for my keyboard. My expression pedal was the dirt cheap M-Audio plastic one that, according to Line6's own website, shouldn't work with this unit...except it did. Yes, even when toggling the "M-Audio/Other" switch on the underside of the pedal, at first It either didn't work at all, or worked backwards. But then, I discovered the genius programming built into this little gem. If you rock the EXP pedal either full up or full down, you can manually set the heel/toe values for ANY of the 5 adjustable parameters in a given effect. SO.......In the tube/tape delay effect, for example, I have it set so the repeats, drive/gain, and "wow/flutter" all increase (each by individually set amounts) when I rock the EXP pedal from heel to toe. Add to that the fact that this is a dual stomp switch pedal with a dedicated tap-tempo switch, and you have an ultra-controlable delay unit. My only niggle is in the auto-wah/'tron' department. While they have a few dynamics-based filter effects models, only one is a dedicated Mu-Tron/envelope-filter type effect. What's more, since they only have the one model, and only 5 adjustable parameters, they decided to allot some of those 5 precious parameter knobs to things like "high-/low-/band-pass filter" and left out the crucial "sensitivity" setting. My rig is old-school; vintage non-master-volume amp + tube screamer + THD Hotplate. All my gain/distortion is controlled via my guitar's volume knob. The problem is, with no 'sensitivity' setting on the 'Tron' effect model, you only get decent results if your guitar volume is full up on or near 10. Unfortunately, most of the situations where you want to use this type of effect are with a relatively clean tone. But, since I can only get said cleaner tone by rolling back my guitar's volume, I don't have enough signal to trigger the wah effect. Instead of including some of the 'cool-but-of-limited-usefulness' models like "Comet Trails" in this section of the pedal, I wish Line6 would have had multiple 'Tron' models (high-/low-/band-pass) with sensitivity parameter adjustments all 'round. Full disclosure; what with my fore mentioned rig, I have not at all explored the distortion section of this pedal, and thus cannot comment on it's quality or lack thereof. I have at least dabbled in the modulation section, and done extensive exploration in the filter, delay, and Reverb sections, and found them all adequate to superior in tone and 'controlability' (OK, maybe not a real word...yet). And, c'mon, for $130? You really can't beat this!

  • Clean sounding and and one heck of a value

This is an awesome pedal! I have used MANY other multi-effect pedals, many of which have NOISE or are hard to switch back and forth or are not user-friendly. This pedal has none of that! It sounds incredible and is very easy to use. It sounds clean and is very intuitive and each sound is very customizable!

  • Easy to use and all famous pedals are represented

Biggest pro is all the effects are easy to adjust with knobs for each parameter, no menu diving. I love my ZoomG1Xon but I got so tired of pressing buttons to get to parameter i wanted to adjust. This is so much easier. Great pedal to start with, it is like an introduction to effects pedals.

  • Great features, affordable

I really enjoy my M5 a lot. It does everything that that needed it to do, namely modulations - chorus, tremolo, etc. The effects are very high quality, it's no surprise that this has been on pedal boards of many pros. I did have a hard time hitting both buttons to change presets and got a small midi foot controller to solve that problem. There's also the issue with the screen being small, if you have poor eyesight like me it will be difficult to read the whats on the little screen. All in all I recommend this device it's sized correctly, the on board tuner is a definite plus too

  • Save the cost of acquiring several boxes with this one fantastic unit!

Great asset for creating new sound textures. Rather than buying a half dozen different boxes this one unit has many great effects. There's lots of useless sounds here but enough really good ones to make the Line 6 M5 Stomp box a good investment.

  • Very dependable.

The most dependable and usefull pedal ever. Offer too much for it cost. I use it as a modulation and delay pedal. You can place it in the chain and will work great, except for distortions, didn like them at all. Otherwise, filters, mods, revs and delays are awesome.

  • Jack of all trades

Good product. Works as you would expect. I have it on my pedalboard and it fills in when I need an effect pedal that I don’t already own. It also lets me try effects to see if I may want to get a dedicated pedal for a specific sound.
