Great Item
Got this adapter so I could hook up my Minolta Multi Pro film scanner to my Thunderbolt Apple Macbook Air. Perfect fit. My scanner is an FW400 while this adapter is an FW800 to Thunderbolt. So, I needed another adapter to make the two work together. No big deal, that is what happens when you use legacy equipment. But this unit is of a very high quality construction and I recommend it if you need one.

Glad I got this one. Love it.
There is not much to say. It works and it is something I wish could be standard for currently designed it products. Firewire was by far one the best data transfer protocols at its time and it still can compete with USB in every way.

Good product but not what I needed.
The product was what I ordered. it arrived in pristine condition within a reasonable time. What I did not realise was that Apple had moved on to the next version of Thunderbolt and the Firewire connection was considered ancient technology and no adaptor Firewire/Thunderbolt 2 was or would be available. Another adaptor was needed to fill the gap.

Thank you!! Now I don’t need to install Windows 7 to use my camera since Fire wire is no longer supported . I just use multiple adapters. In this case the middle adapter is the one I needed.

Critical component for DV Tape Imports to older iMac
Critical adapter needed to import DV tape movies into my Late 2012 iMac. I had to buy 2 adapters: FireWire 400=>800 and then this FireWire 800 => Thunderbolt 1/2. The Sony DV Camera iMovie imports worked well with this adapter.

Nice adaptor cable
Used it to connect a Macbook Pro's Thunderbolt port to an Apogee Duet Firewire and a FW800 external hard drive.
