Dual core to quad core
What a difference this cpu made on my HP laptop. I bought an HP 8470P Elitebook Laptop with a dual core standard cpu. I really like fast response on what I use but this setup was not up to my standards. I added more RAM but that didn't help much so I bought this cpu and tore down the laptop for installation. It wasn't that difficult and the reward was worth the effort. The i7-3740 can handle more RAM now but I'm OK with 8gb. Perfect upgrade for an 8470p, this is absolute power
First of all don't listen to those bias people telling you upgrading a laptop CPU is useless (just of course research first for compatibility), this processor is a complete different level, I first tested on a CPU intensive scenario where my old i5 did not perform well, this over killed it, temperatures were around 48-51 idle, 55 on daily usage and 70 on heavy jobs, it did reach 95 thought but using a very heavy game for the machine (probably using an external gpu will solve this issue as it was using the Intel hd graphics) but never throttled or lost performance, it boots my 8470p much faster, all apps open faster, and feels more fluid, it really is worth the upgrade, I encourage it as an option if you don't want to replace your machine yetBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

VERY nice processor, shipped very quickly.
VERY nice processor. NOT easy to install but NOT all that difficult either. Took about an hour , hour and a half to tear a Dell Precision M6700 down to the mother board to remove the old cpu and replace with the new.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

my first i7
I got the processor from the post office just 2 hours ago and now I am writing from my laptop with the i7 in it. It runs great and the processor stays very cool in idle state 38-41 C. Works as intended with a bit of a boost.
I upgraded my laptop from a i5-3360m to this i7-3740qm. There a slight improvement in performance. Sadly with out able to put a dedicated graphic card into the laptop. Turn a lame performer into a screamer!
Swapped this right into my Dell M4700 laptop to expand on cores and Max my ram channels... flawless!!! Didn’t bother using the thermal compound provided, used better stuff! Worked GREAT in upgadeing my Dell laptop
purchased this CPU to upgrade a dell laptop. was the one recomended by Dell. Took it to a comptuer store to have all the work done and the tec. siad all peices went right into the laptop with not troubles.
