Baseball fans of a certain era will really love this
This is a really entertaining account of the tensions between and bigger than life personalities of Yankee owner George Steinbrenner, manager Billy Martin and star slugger Reggie Jackson, all set against the backdrop of NYC in 1977. We get the search for the Son of Sam killer, and the mayoral race, but the main focus is the 1977 Yankees. The series is brilliantly cast, with most of the actors not only physically resembling the people they portray, but capturing their essence as well. The baseball sequences are well done--not always the case in baseball movies!--and are interspersed with actual footage of the games. very entertaining, nice price, good deal.

Best Movie About Yankees Baseball
If you lived in New York in the late 70s you know this movie was spot on. 1977 was a troubled year in New York City. It was an election year and with David Berkowitz aka Son Of Sam killing people, the blackout, the looting, the fires and the garbage strike going on, The New York Yankees was a great distraction. Their year mirrored what was happening in the city and in the end they were world champs. Just like the people of New York, what doesn't kill them only makes them stronger. The "Bronx Is Burning" was fantastic! The acting was great and they looked like the characters they were playing. If you're a Yankee Fan and or was a New Yorker you have to see this film and even if you're not you'll love it, highly entertaining.

A lost gym
A wonderful docudrama. I was a young man in the seventys when this happened. There was more more to it than I remembered. They were complicated but simpler times.

True Crime and Baseball
Originally watched this on ESPN when it premiered, it was just as god the second time around. True crime and baseball, doesn't get any better than this.

Great Sports DVD set!
I am a huge New York Yankees fan and I truly enjoyed watching this DVD series of the 1977 New York Yankees. I think any one who is a New York Yankees fan would really enjoy this DVD set!
