Natural Black
Oh yes! HiColor is the most outstanding invention for natural brunettes. I grew up having to make the choice of wanting to strip the color from my hair to get red pops of color or keeping my hair healthy and saving money. I would go to the salon and rarely got the highlights with enough color payoff for the hours I spend in the chair. This (esp the Magenta) can be done at home and you can try doing quirky bads of color on your own with it being so easy to apply. I have bought three tubes of this over two years (since I don't color ALL my hair) and use it for touch ups. Applied directly to my dark asian hair. I got so many compliments and even did some color for a friend. For the bright "red" that I wanted, I find Magenta was closer, as it appears darker when blended in with surrounding black hair. If you were to color your whole head, it would look very dark pink and the other reds might be a better choice. You can always blend tubes also to get a perfect color. When the color runs out, your hair will be lighter but not nearly as damaged as would result with traditional methods. Magenta fades out to an auburn in my hair. Results may vary, of course. SUCH GREAT VALUE!

Works Superbly for Dying Dark Hair Roots
I didn't use this for highlighting my near-black hair but to bleach my dark hair roots. Inspired by a Youtuber who dyes her black hair in gorgeous red, I followed her exact formula and purchased this. Just as instructed, I mixed it with 30% volume cream from Salon Care and applied to about an inch-long dark roots and left it for about 45 minutes, and viola! WITHOUT using harsh and painful 30% volume bleach and separately dying the root, I was able to bleach out AND dye my roots in pretty pink-based red! I wish I knew how else I can use this product, and will try to use it on the rest of the hair without the 30% fixer. The tube is very small and good for bleaching/dying short roots only for someone with medium volume in the hair, so if the user buys this for highlighting her entire long hair or the dark root is longer than an inch, then she needs a lot more than just one tiny tube. So, buying six tubes as a bulk from this seller is a good deal. I am sticking to this for a looooong time until something really better comes along.

Absolutely great for black hair
This is an awesome product for black hair. It does not require bleaching the hair first (unless you want it super bright), thus reducing damage to the hair. After the first wash, after application, the color does not bleed. I had experiences before with other dyes bleeding even after weeks and color does not last long. I am so glad this product does not bleed on shirts, pillowcases! It looks like it will stay for a while. The color is vibrant. I just love this product. Definitely recommended for dark hair!

Very Good
At first i was concerned beacause the box was different than all the ones i saw before. But when i tried it i fell in love!!! 3 i love this color and it last a long time without fading so much. I had my hair died red before so i used a 20 vol developer... and it worked perfecly, a vibrant magenta color on my hair.

I love the color for my dark hair!
For someone with dark hair it's hard to put any colors in your hair. But now I use this stuff with 30 developer cream and it comes out a brilliant red/dark pink color. It also doesn't fade into an ugly orange color, but it does wash out fast which is my only complaint.

My favorite dye
Always keeps my hair vibrant red and looks beautiful. My hair was dyed black for many years and two rounds of this has kept my hair red and looking great . Highly recommend

Great for dark hair
The loreal hicolor brand is the best for dark hair. It recommends using 40 vol developer, but I use a 20 vol and my hair is still vibrant!
