Meet the Crosshair V Formula-Z, a motherboard by Asus based on an upgraded 990FX chipset from AMD. This board supports any AMD processor configured for the AM3+ socket like the AM3+ FX, Phenom II, Athlon II, and the Sempron 100 series. Cool 'n' Quiet technology is integrated, and the CPU can have as many as eight cores and up to a 140-watt TDP. This mainboard is designed for a desktop computer. It has an ATX form factor and measures 14.65 inches by 3.58 inches by 11.69 inches.Although they support 32-bit systems, these motherboards are designed to take full advantage of a 64-bit architecture. It uses a dual-channel memory architecture and requires non-ECC, un-buffered DIMM. These DDR3 modules can operate at between 1066 and 1600 MHz and up to 2400 with overclocking. Four DIMM slots hold up to 8GB each for a total possible system memory of 32GB. Storage options are provided via an AMD SB950 controller and a ASMedia ASM1061 controller. The SB950 provides six SATA III connections and supports Raid 0, 1, 5, and 10. The ASM1061 provides two eSATA ports and an additional two SATA II, which deliver a 6GB/s maximum throughout.The Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z board carries the Republic of Gamers branding, which means that it’s designed for performance gaming. The system bus delivers a theoretical throughput of 5.2 GT/s. Onboard expansion slots include three PCIe 2.0 x16, one PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode), and one PCIe 2.0 x1. As a ROG board, there’s also multi-GPU support: AMD 3-Way CrossFire X, NVIDIA Quad-GPU SLI, and NVIDIA 3-Way SLI. In a two-GPU configuration, the PCIe slots operate at x16/x16. In a three-GPU setup, they operate at x16/x8/x8. To facilitate a wired Ethernet connection to a local network, this Asus motherboard features one Intel Gigabit LAN controller. An ASMedia USB 3.0 controller provides four USB 3.0/2.0 ports accessible at the rear panel. There are also an additional two onboard USB 3.0/2.0 connections that you can use to wire up front case ports. In addition to two CPU fan headers, cooling is provided via three chassis fan headers and three optional fan headers. Standard power connections include one 24-pin EATX Power, eight 8-pin ATX 12V, and four 4-pin 12V.The Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z ROG motherboard also includes the bells and whistles that enthusiasts expect from a ROG board. In addition to a UEFI BIOS, there’s a modern BIOS UI and handy overclocking tools like BIOS Print and GPU.DIMM. With ROG Connect, you can link your computer to a notebook in order to perform diagnostics on a separate machine. Perfect Motherboard for Overclocking!
This motherboard has a hefty 8+2+2 phase VRM section, a sleek red and black aesthetic, and Asus quality features in the bios to satisfy extreme overclocking. This motherboard is one of a select few high end boards certified to support the 220 watt AM3+ CPUs. There are more options in the bios that I'll ever need to tinker with, and the ones I have adjusted work flawlessly. I have not had a single issue with this motherboard and it continues to impress me with how well the Asus ROG features work. A huge plus is you can flash the bios without even powering on the system and you can even customize the splash screen that displays during post and boot up! 10/10.

R.I.P. AM3.
At this point, AM3 is on its way out the door. Ryzen came out today, but I used this board as an incremental upgrade for my old build (made in 2010). Did it serve me well? Yes. Do I have any complaints? No. However, I can't recommend this board now that AM4 is here. I'm not going to discredit it, either. This board has nice features. It has built in overclocking and diagnostic features as well as support for DDR3 2400 MHz. It also boasts an Intel gigabit NIC. There's also nice built-in 7.1 audio, but I rarely used it since I use audio through HDMI. The main reason I went from the Crosshair IV Formula to the Crosshair V Formula-Z was USB 3.0. The board has two USB 3.0 slots in the back as well as an onboard header for modern cases with USB 3.0 ports (or maybe a USB 3.0 5.25" expansion if you choose to go that route). Keep in mind that with AM4 out now, I wouldn't recommend paying much more than 150 bucks for this board. High performance combo at the low price
The board looked like brand new without single scratch on it. The bios is amazing to tweak anything you want. CPU must be water cooled to extract heat fast and outside of the case but nowadays MSI water coolers are quality built and inexpensive.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht

Love this Board!

More info about product,also consumer beware.

This board is a beast!
My ASUS 990fx R.2 (refurbished) finally gave up the ghost, so I grabbed my ASRock Fatal1ty 990fx Killer to swap in as a temporary solution. Considering I could no longer play VR titles along with other odd idiosyncrasies, I knew I needed to find a better solution. After finding this Crosshair V for a very reasonable price, I snapped it up; and it was delivered super fast. Installation was a breeze, and since I had my PC pretty much finished- all I needed to do was basically clean off the old and reapply new heat paste to my cpu+AIO cooler. Afterwards the system posted fine, and after correcting some settings in BIOS, I was back into Windows; where I installed the proper drivers, reinstalled a few system-crucial apps (mainly Oculus), and this thing has been running perfectly ever since. Very satisfied with this motherboard and it has so many robust features that my previous boards did not come equipped with. This should last me a few more years (probably a lot longer), or until I finally pull the trigger on a new ZEN setup, or dare I say- a new INTEL.... The best for Oc'ers
This is best for hardcore gamers and overclockers hands down the ROG feature lets you do thing other boards can only dream of so if you're a oldschool oc'er then by all means but I shouldn't have to to you guys this these monsters can be overclocked to the max and beg for more but I have seen rookies smoke 'em but it was they're fault for not knowing what they are doing do don't be A ROOKIE or make a rookie mistake I have made this mistake lol and I'm a builder lol so be very careful and this board will take care of you and take your gamer to new heights enjoyBestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Gebraucht
