ASUS practically built a shrine to high-performance AMD AM3 + FX series processors in the enthusiast-level M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard. Just about every feature takes full advantage of the AM3 + FX, particularly the Dual Intelligent Processors 3 with DIGI+ Power Control software utility, a comprehensive CPU, memory, and the SMART DIGI+ Key profile tuning system. This provides two voltage controllers for precision CPU power control and DRAM tuning. The ASUS M5A99FX can handle as much graphics power as you throw at it, from NVIDIA’s behemoth Titan X graphics processing unit (GPU) to ATI’s beastly Radeon 4870 X2 CrossFireX GPU and that’s without utilizing the board’s SLI or CrossFire X features. With NVIDIA SLI or AMD’s CrossFire X, you can install up to four SLI-ready GeForce GPUs or four AMD Radeon CrossFireX-ready GPUs in the M5A99FX motherboard. Four GPUs, combined with a high-power processor, provide competition-level performance. This allows you to enjoy gaming at the fastest frame rates, using the highest resolutions with VSync, tessellation, and anti-aliasing setting cranked to their maximum levels. You can also use one additional display with each card you add to the board. You don’t need four GPUs to take advantage of SLI and CrossFire X technology. With one CrossFire X or SLI GPU, you can play 4K games and use ASUS’ Remote Go! technology to turn your computer into a home theater PC (HTPC). Remote GO! connects your mobile devices, like tablets and smartphones, with your television, to act as remote controls when streaming multimedia, including 4K movies and videos, from your PC. You can also use Media GO! to transfer files and serve as remote desktops to your computer. ASUS designed the M5A99FX Pro motherboard around the AMD 990FX, the first chipset to support AMD eight-core processors AMD OverDrive software. The 990FX supports all AM3 and AM3+ processors, as well as Sempron, Sempron X2, Athlon X2, Athlon FX, Athlon II X2, Athlon II X3, Athlon II X4, Phenom X2, Phenom II X3, Phenom II X4 and Phenom II X6 CPU series. The M5A99FX motherboard’s 990FX supports serial ATA (SATA) 6GBps devices, multiple RAID configurations, and enhanced SSD configurations, while enabling 2x16 or 4x8 PCIe 2.0 configuration push graphics performance. The 990FX features dual-channel DDR3 1866 memory and increases maximum data transfer rates to up to 5.2 GT per second with its HyperTransport 3.0-based system bus. ASUS M5A99FX motherboards have four 240-pin DIMM slots for up to 32GB of DDR3 RAM (1866 MHz running normally, and 2133 MHz overclocking). The 14 USB 2.0 connectors and four USB 3.0 connectors can handle all your external hardware and accessories. Expansion slots include one PCI socket, one PCIe 2.0, two PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual x16), and two PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black). The M5A99FX has one AMD SB950 controller that supports five SATA 6 GBps ports and one eSATA port. An ASMedia PCIe SATA controller supports two SATA 6 GBps ports. A Realtek ALC892 eight-channel HD audio CODEC manages the audio, which features Absolute Pitch 192kHz/ 24-bit True BD Lossless Sound, Blu-ray audio layer content protection, DTS Ultra PC II, DTS Connect, and ASUS Noise Filter. The ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 motherboard and a high-powered AMD CPU, make a solid foundation for a PC that manages everything from day-to-day computer tasks to competition-level gaming. Very satisfied the my replacement ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 MB
I purchased this MB to replace one that failed. This MB had the latest Bios already installed, and It performs very well. I have all the papers from the original unit that failed, so I can honestly say that this board is absolutely a documented winner. I am very satisfied! I am using an AMD FX9590 CPU, and I originally purchased a Gigabyte MB (GA-78LMT-USB3) however it wouldn't accept the FX9590 CPU, and the Gigabyte engineers told me that the latest FX CPU it would run with was my FX8350. Solid MB, works with Win & Linux, great for Cross-Fire GPUs.
I have been a non Intel CPU fan since the V20 chip, that dates me, I moved to AMD platforms during the time of K5 CPU's. This motherboard seams very solid, my configuration is a AMD 8300 CPU, 16Gb - 1333 Ram, Samsung EVO 860 512Gb, 2 x 3TB Seagate HD and 1 2TB Western Digital and 2 RX460 GPU's in Crossover (works like a champ) . I have noted that the Samsung SSD does seam to generate errors in the event viewer, I beleave that this is a well known problem with Samsung and AMD chip-sets (old and new) , you can find a fare number of articles on this problem online. . I only do a couple of video games, the Fallout series 3 & 4, using Nexus mods. I do a lot of video editing ( 40 GB per week - using 6 cameras) and running Corel VideoStudio X10, not great software (buggy) but I have learned to live with its limitations. I am running Win7 x64, not planning on going to Win 8.x or 10 ever, my next stop will likely be a Linux platform, MS only makes bloatware with spyware now.

Great motherboard
The motherboard looks to be in new condition. However, I had two issues when I installed it. The board was missing the mounting blocks for the CPU cooling fan, and the battery on the board was bad. The motherboard powered up and everythin...
The motherboard powered up and everything seems to be working fine. I am grateful for that. I may be mistaken, but I thought the item was new, never used. However, I noticed there was a screw and standoff that was left on in one of the mounting holes. This is one of best ASUS boards, I have seen in many years' it took some time to setup however the AI Suite' that allows the user complete tuneability, the Bios are easy to flash' it came with 2301 when I received the board now it has version 2501, you can use up to 4 x DIMM, Max. 32GB, DDR3 1866*/2133(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz ECC, Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory. ASUS M5A99FX PRO AMD Motherboard
