Rally useful if you ave accumulated peripherals
This dock performs well. Te USB ports in my Mac mini occasional give an error that they are drawing too much current, so have been shut off. I've seen this error from a couple of Macs, but it is not substantiated if I put one of the small USB voltage/current monitors in line with the only USB device attached. The Docking station provides multiple USB ports for external devices in ddition to an added HDMI port,added RJ-45 port, etc. It makes the Mac Mini much more useful with the varios peripherls I have acymulated over the years :-)

Runs Hot!!!
Just received the O.W.C. Hub, looks great works great my only real concern is the heat generated in the thunderbolt port! I shut off laptop and unplugged the thunderbolt cable and I couldn’t really touch the end because of the amount of heat it had. I invested nearly $200 for this hub and I’m hoping it doesn’t fail in a few weeks or months! Can’t say for certain if I would recommend this to anyone yet. I need to give it a few weeks to see how it performs with the hot thunderbolt port.

Notebook or Laptop to Desktop in One Easy Connection
This Thunderbolt 2 Dock delivers extraordinary performance without consuming too much space on your desk. I easily transforms your suitably powerful laptop or notebook computer with Thunderbolt ports (adapter required for a newer Thunderbolt 3 system) into a much more capable desktop system. Its only disadvantage is that OWC has stopped selling new ones.

OWC 12-port Thunderbolt 2 Dock improves performance of devices.
After purchasing an OWC Thunderbolt 2 Dock for a 2015 iMac, I purchased a second dock for a Mac Mini. For me, the dock greatly improves USB throughput of digital audio to external devices, and most importantly ends the bothersome freeze-ups and slow reboots with multiple USB hard disks. The dock is essentially a glitch-free and seamless extension of the computer. The OWC dock occupies one Thunderbolt port on the Mac, leaving you the remaining port on the computer and one open port on the dock with equal performance. The Ethernet ports, HDMI ports, Firewiire 800 and Audio Ports provide lots of additional connectivity, and the high-powered USB charging slots are great for smartphones etc.

This dock has everytime on it...... its great for macs since the have very little connections on them...
