Can you speak 'Scottish'?
I love this series. Actually, I loved the series of books about Hamish Macbeth written by MC Beaton and though I'd try the TV Show. it's just a 'based on' but the characters are very engaging. The only problem I have now and then is that there aren't any subtitles and sometimes the accent, idiom or whatever doesn't make the jump to American English but I can live with it.

This series is really fun!
It's easy to see the connections with the later "Doc Martin" series via the shared writer, Minghella. Both are delightful, scenic depictions of rural UK with eccentric, charming characters. It is a little startling how "white" the cast is, but times are changing, one hopes.
