An Alternet View of how Christianity became a dominate player in the world.
This film tells the little-taught story of the end of the Roman Empire from the point of view of the Graeco-Egyptian-Roman culture that was Alexandria in the 5th century AD. The "minority" religions that were the Hebrews and the Christians, had and were claiming more and more "citizen rights", toppling what was once a thriving and vital culture, pagan though it may have been. Slight warning - These "Minority" religious folks are portrayed as unstable and rebel-rousing folk and not the kind, passive and loving folks the official literature makes them out to be. Gives the viewer the long lost story ofa brilliant mathematician.

Agora gets most of it right.
A good with about ancient history that gets a lot more Right than it does wrong That is rare with many films dealing with historical events and people. Ms Weisz is probably too young to have played Hypathia at this stage of her life, but she plays the role well and makes it interesting. This film was criminally overlooked in America and I recommend it for those with an interest in ancient Egypt and the lost library of Alexandria.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu

Well made tribute to the pagan martyr
