Easy to install, toilet no longer runs!
Easy to put on. No need to turn off the water: I flushed the toilet and hooked a slightly flexible long plastic comb from front to back of the tank, under the narrow black plastic arm that raises and lowers as water comes in, to hold it up and stop water coming in. Or use a string from it to a towel bar or grab bar, anything to hold it up to keep water from coming in. Turn the spindle in the middle of the canister 1/4 turn to the left (counterclockwise) to release it; the canister will pop up. Turn the canister upside down, remove the old gasket and ease the new one in place. Look for the key sticking out of the bottom of the spindle, and the keyhole it fits into below. On each side of the canister there's a projection. Put the key in a straight line with the projections, then replace the canister with the projections in line with the keyhole. Wiggle the spindle a little to get the key back into the keyhole, you'll feel when it goes down. Then turn the spindle 1/4 turn to the right (clockwise) to lock it in place. Before removing whatever you used to keep the tank from filling, put the rubbery water hose firmly back into its hole in the top center of the spindle - if you forget you'll get squirted. (I did.) This is a ten minute job that saved me a $100 plumber's bill. I'm a woman and no spring chicken - if I can do it, I know you can!
