If you are a hunter who enjoys traveling to different environments and hunting a wide variety of game, you need a riflescope that can keep up with you. The Nikon ProStaff 4-12x40 scope is ideal for your situation. It is designed to be sophisticated enough to have the adjustments you need while still being rugged enough to take the hard knocks that come with heavy use. The matte black finish of the Nikon ProStaff looks great with your rifle and will not throw off reflections that can spook your quarry. The scope is 14.1 inches long and weighs 15.9 ounces. The 40mm objective has an outside diameter of 50mm, and the eyepiece has an outside diameter of 44mm. The magnification adjusts from 4x to 12x for great flexibility. The optics on these Nikon riflescope accessories are impressive. All the glass-to-air surfaces are fully multicoated. This lens coating allows up to 98% transmission of the available light for a crystal-clear image in bright or dim conditions. This means that you can go hunting in the morning, in the evening, or whenever your game is active and know that you will be able to get a clear shot. The coatings on the optical system also make the lenses scratch-resistant and decrease glare and reflection. In between the 40mm objective lens and the quick focus eyepiece is the one-inch diameter mounting tube. The tube is filled with nitrogen and sealed with O-rings to hold off corrosion, making the scope waterproof and fog-proof. The entire assembly of these riflescopes is also shockproof for sturdy reliability in any shooting environment. The reticle on this ProStaff model is the bullet drop compensation (BDC) style. A BDC reticle is easy to use and gives pinpoint accuracy at both short and long range. For close targets, the center of the cross hair is used for sighting. For targets up to 600 yards away, you use the see-through ballistic circles that compensate for the bullet drop to give you dead-on aim. A fixed parallax setting of 100 yards pegs your reticle to your target for an accurate rifle shot even when your eye is not perfectly aligned with the eyepiece. Spring-loaded turrets let you make easy MOA adjustments on these scopes. The turrets turn with distinct clicks so you do not have to take your eyes off your target to adjust. Each click is 1/4 MOA, and you can make a maximum internal adjustment of 60. The turrets have an easy zero-reset feature. These scopes are easily connected to your gun for excellent sighting capacity.The other metrics on the Nikon ProStaff scope include a 3.7-inch eye relief to protect your brow from recoil even if you are hunting with a lightweight rifle. The exit pupil ranges from 3.3mm at 12x magnification to 10mm at 4x. This scope has a generous field of view of 23.6 feet at 100 yards at the 4x setting and 7.3 feet at 100 yards at 12x. Beautiful clear optics.

Best rimfire scope for the money

Buy it for the Spot On App
The Nikon 4-12 x 40 rimfire BDC scope is a nice clear scope that does a good job for the money. The thing that really seals the deal is the Spot on software. Using Spot On you can really fine tune your optic settings for your particular round and conditions. My particular rifle is a savage FV-SR firing standard velocity CCI 40grn LRN. My setup and ammunition is far from top shelf yet I can hit a golf ball consistently at 150yrds. I am very happy with the purchase. Well made.
The scope looks very well made. The adjustments are tight and smooth unlike other scopes that feel sloppy and loose. The scope so far appears to be of good quality for being in the low price range as compared to other scopes that are way to expensive unless you're putting it on a competition .22. Not a clear scope
