  • QYT KT8900 Dual band 25Watt review=Radio Rocks.

Purchased the above radio. This is a great radio for the price so far. Has all the features you will need. Its very loud and very clear. So far no issues. A little hard to understand but there are plenty of learning videos on utube. This radio I believe is made by the same mfg. It goes by many different names and numbers and colors. I purchased a second one looks the same but another name. Has all the frequency possibilities you will need. A fm radio built in also. I recommend this radio. A High quality microphone. So small it fits in your hand. Some say the screen is too small but I have no problem I see it fine. So I give it five starts and all yes in the rateings list. Would make a great base so I purchased another different name but same radio. Item highly recommended and the best radio for the buck. Radio does it all. Some radios come with the PC USB program cord and or the software. Most do not you get just the radio with its accessories to go mobile. The programming can also be done in the field with the radio itself and no pc. So 100% recommended.

  • Has as many drawbacks as good features

Pros Nice, loud audio and familiar Baofeng (manual) programming, small footprint, lightweight, has never gotten very warm at high power (in spite of labeled warning), nice large buttons keep me from fat-fingering. Cons Finals easily blown (accidental xmit with no antenna, instead of shutting down or lowering power, finals burn up), poor voltage regulation (when it's a little out of range, instead of shutting down like many other rigs, it burns up), others complain that mic makes me sound very boxy or tin-canny (when I switch to after-market mic, problem goes away for most part), mic cable in the way of volume knob, tiny screen can be difficult to see.

  • QYT KT 8900

I use this radio in my work truck. (3 axle Kenworth, 40 foot end dump) This is a great little radio! Crisp, clean audio on both UHF and VHF. Great for local repeaters and for simplex. With a high gain dual band antenna, I am using repeaters that I would hit with 50 watts using my Yaesu mobile. (And only using 20 watts!) And here's and important feature, it's really small! The only issue I have is that programming is time consuming, and the software and cable included is hard to deal with. I have found it easier to program manually. Once you get past programming, it's a heck of a good little radio!

  • Okay for the money

It is a HAM-radio for 144MHz and 430MHz. Dual band. Transmitter is okay output power is as discribed by the manufacturer. Received audio is good for such a small box. Transmitted audio is bad, sounds muffled and plastic. It can not be changed in software so transmitquality is poor. Receiver is very sensitive, but is easely overloaded and the receiver is blocked. Squelch is digital and poorly adjustable. Works very bad in case of even very small signals nearby. This should have bin a analog squelch ! For about 90 dollars it is fun, but it can not match in any way the brands like Icom Yaesu Kenwood Alinco etc You better buy a secondhand Yaesu FT9800 for just a few bucks more.

  • small ,cheap,works

Size is very small, has good audio problem found, poor front end rejection..it picks up way to much. Like interference from traffic lights, ajacent truckers thinks like that.

  • Great Radio

this little radio is the best . it is a little hard to get used to but there is a lot of videos on YouTube to help. works great with a Slimjim antenna. but i have not had any problems with as of yet. VHF/UHF it just works and it gets its signal out. A little hard to get the name programmed in a channel and as well as to save a channel in but not a wast of time, just different .

  • Chinese Surprise

If you're looking for a compact radio to fit in a small location, then this radio will fill the bill. This radio is not user friendly, and is not for the first-time user! It uses the same programming protocol as most other Chinese radios, and there are tutorials on the internet. The audio is loud and clear. The one thing I don't like about this radio is that there is no jack for external speaker/headphone. Once the radio is programmed, it works great! I needed a dual band radio for volunteer emergency work, and this fills the bill!

  • Big radio--little package

Exactly the radio that was needed, it fits in a small car and has all the features of the more expensive rigs. I get good signal reports and the audio sounds fine. I would advise anyone with a small car and a budget to match,go buy one

  • the QYT KT8900

This is a great dual band radio for those of us hams out there who cant afford 500 or 600 dollars on a comparable radio. If have programmed a baofeng UV5R than you can program this no problem. there is a little trick that they dont tell you about in the book. look up videos on youtube and youll figure it out. awesome radio. I love it. Use it as a base unit.

  • Great radio for the price

I have 2 of these radio's. I've not had a single issue with them. I've owned one for more than 2 years. Granted, It's not an Icom, Kenwood, or Yaesu. But the again, It did not cost $300. Would purchase again.
