Product Information
The Spendor BC1 monitor is a vintage three-way speaker system that was designed by the BBC in 1969 in order to monitor broadcasts with as accurate sound reproduction as possible. The Spendor BC1 features a frequency response of 60 Hz to 14 kHz ± 3 dB, which delivers bright, crisp highs and a wide midrange. The construction of the Spendor BC1 includes an eight-inch Spendor woofer, a Celestion 1300 tweeter, and an ITT 4001 G super-tweeter. Because the Spendor BC1 monitor is a three-way speaker, sound frequencies are divided among the woofer and tweeters to drive each element separately, resulting in cleaner transitions between lows, mids, and highs. In addition, the inclusion of a super-tweeter means that signals at the high end of the frequency spectrum are not distorted by the tweeter, as often occurs in a two-way woofer/tweeter construction. The cabinet of the Spendor BC1 is constructed of teak with bitumen-impregnated masonite pads on the inside for damping purposes. The power handling capacity of this system is 40 watts.Product Identifiers
