Great for Game Boy Collectors or People who just want an obscure Japan-Only Nintendo System!
It's exactly like a Game Boy Pocket,except it has a old electronic greenish tint backlight! Nowadays it's kind of outclassed by the GBA SP AGS-101 (or any backlit modded Game Boy Variant ) but it's a really nice piece in my collection! It plays Game Boy games greatly as excepted. It has a nice battery cover which gives it a little bit of a "Grip" which no other game boy system has,which makes it feel very nice in my hands after long play sessions,compared to say the Game Boy Color or the GBA SP. This doesn't really make it worth the Hefty Price Tag,but it does give it a nice little niche. Overall it's a great item for Game Boy and Nintendo Collectors,or those who want one of Nintendo's more obscure consoles,but for those who just want to play Game Boy games,I would recommend the GBA SP AGS-101 or to mod Another preferred Game Boy Model.

Shipped quick, great item, and in wonderful condition!
So having grown up with the Game Boy Color, I will admit I do miss the contrast of the colored Game Boys. That having been said, I don't know why Japan didn't release this product in the US, because an officially back-lit Game Boy Pocket (which essentially is what the Game Boy Light is) has to be one of the best early-era mobile systems they've made. I've been loving it at home, work, you name it. Light or dark, it's fantastic.

excellent vintage product
The device received was near mint, as advertised. Better than expected from the listing photos even. It shows the lightest signs of normal wear from normal use. The backlighting works well and the buttons feel great. Everything else functions as well as new. No refurbishing needed.

Great collectors piece
I didn't even know that the Gameboy Light existed until earlier this year. As a kid, I always wanted a Gameboy that had the ability to be played at night, and it turns out this was the answer. Sadly, it was never released in the United States. Now as an adult, this system becomes a part of my retro system collection. It works exactly as it should and the 90's "indiglo" backlight is a great feature that makes me think of the 90's. If you are an average retro game player... get a GBA-SP, if you are a collector... get this.

100 percent satisfied. The coolest Gameboy and a must-have.
Strange that they didn't make a backlit screen standard after this, the 3rd and final edit of the original Gameboy. We would have to wait until 2004 for the Gameboy SP to have that standard. 2004! This GB Freakin Light came in excellent condition and really looks cool displayed on my RoseColored Gaming display. Thanks!

A collector's piece for sure
For the price it's nice to own one of these gameboys. The gameplay is as expected and the lighted screen is cool. It plays better at night cause its alot easier to see ... I got one because of the nostalgic value to me. I had one when they first came out but didnt take care of it. This time as an adult I will.. just a cool piece to add to my collection and you gotta be a die hard gameboy fan to own one of these because Ninetndo offers WAY BETTER graphics on Switch and even older gameboy advance systems. But if you love the old school way of playing on the gameboy light then you will enjoy this system. It's not for everyone ... but those who own one know they are a little piece of gaming history ..😁😁😁❤❤❤‼‼

Worn but Worth It
This is a used item, so the visible wear on it wasn't a big deal. That being said, if there was an issue to be had, it would be that the silver paint is worn off in several places. The audio works well, the contrast slider is a little finicky but works fairly well, and the the light in the screen still works. This is an old system from 1994, so don't expect it to be super bright, but for a 24 year old system, it's in great condition. I also pulled out my triwing screwdriver to pull the system apart and take a look inside. The console is an original, and has the Nintendo logo on the motherboard. You're not paying out of the nose for an intricate reproduction system. Overall, the system works, though is very worn down, but is an original system and not a reproduction. This is perfect for a collector, just don't expect something in "like new" condition.

A great Gameboy.
The light is comparable to a Timex watch night light. Not too bright and comfortable enough to play at night. The bumps at the back side makes it comfortable to hold and play. This gameboy model feels very durable. Playing under daylight is also clear and not tiring compared to the Original DMG. I'm glad to finally get and play a GAMEBOY LIGHT.

Very cool. First GameBoy ever to have a lit screen. Very similar to the GameBoy Pocket, just a tad bigger.

Great product
Besides the tear in the display, condition of the housing, and the missing battery cover, i was able to clean up everything and get it functioning properly. Battery corrosion was an easy fix and wasn't major enough to cause serious damage. Over all i am satisfied for what i spent on it.
