Western series proliferated on U.S. television during the postwar years, but WIDE COUNTRY was perhaps the only one set in the 1960s. It starred Earl Holliman (CRY PANIC!) as Mitch Guthrie - a world champion cowboy making a living on the rodeo circuit. Though the character achieved success, he was all too familiar with the struggles that the lifestyle presented, and therefore attempted to steer his younger brother, Andy (Andrew Prine of THE TOWN THAT DREADED SUNDOWN) away from his own rodeo dreams - fearing the future that could lay in store for the young man. Episodes focused mainly on the development of the relationship between the siblings. The program featured a who's who of guest stars, including Slim Pickens, Dan Duryea, Claude Akins and Eddie Albert. This box set offers 28 episodes of the program, full and complete as they originally aired.

Wide Country
This is the story of two brothers on the rodeo circuit. It's action and drama and since there is nothing on but garbage this is great entertainment. And since I don't watch t.v., antenna, or satellite because I have some taste this is a million times better than all that stupid crap on t.v. I give it five stars.

Wide Country a must see series!
Excellent TV series from early 60's. Sort of a Route 66 via the rodeo circuit. Each episode a different morality play with guest actors and recurring support cast.
