Who would have thought?
I have been dealing in Macintosh equipment, being from Binghamton for 50 years. I had an e-bay store where I bought and sold electronics. In the past few years I have become incapacitated to be able to lift equipment. So, I have been selling off all my old gear. Its all been restored, so in new condition. I noticed that I had enough to make an entire stereo set up to match my extensive vinyl collection. I began to collect records since the 60s and a few even older. Each, the very best masters available at the time. I restored an 80's era Thorens and purchased a brand new Rega stylis. The amp is a restored Mc 2255 with 150 watts a channel and I used some bookshelf B& Ws that match the era. I had sold my McInosh preamp and didn't want to put another grand in the system. Since I was more interested in the Vinyl playback, I wanted the best and quietest phono preamp for under 200$. I did all my research and what I liked best about the Adcom, is its simplicity. There is a tone switch in and out. What this little button does simply is to take all the tone controls out of the circuit and puts the phono cartridge amped directly to your main amp. Its is super quiet and with the legendary Macintosh autoformers, the distortion is way below most instruments could even measure. probably around .005%. Unless you are wanting the badly designed MP3s or streaming something., this is the way to go. I have a new appreciation for my collection and they never sounded better.
