Does work better than stock LGA retention
This does help with CPU cooling by 5 degrees C. It will help slightly with thermal delta's across CPU cores.
However, (this part is for those seeking to lower core delta's for 12th gen) outside of what this great contact frame does, with 12th gen i7/i9 there will still be a P-core that's 8 C higher than the rest, and two P-cores that are 4 C lower than the rest. Lapping the the IHS may help with this slightly, but the problem mainly is in the CPU die layout for this generation, and the sheer power draw. Entirely replacing the IHS does't make much more of a difference, if at all, than just lapping the stock IHS, and the whole IHS replacement process is very dangerous.
Getting this contact frame, properly installing it (see video made from der8auer) and lapping the stock IHS (if it doesn't pass flatness test) are the best things you can do to improve cooling for a 12th generation Intel CPU.
