Notes1974 release. Joni Mitchell reached her commercial high point with Court and Spark, a remarkably deft fusion of folk, pop, and jazz which stands as her best-selling work to date. While as unified and insightful as Blue, the album - a concept record exploring the roles of honesty and trust in relationships, romantic and otherwise - moves away from confessional songwriting into evocative character studies
It has been 40 years since I've had a stereo system of any quality. I still have records, but until recently, no way to play them. In preparation for my first turntable in that amount of time, I began to accumulate records again. One record I bought was Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell. It turns out that I had forgotten I already had that exact album from years ago, and it was in perfect condition. Oh well. Anyway, it's cool. I can compare the two copies and donate the lessor one to a local used record shop.
i have the original release of this in stereo and quad. this reissue is very much quieter. it's better than the original stereo issue. the great thing with this is the 180gram vynil. i think this and how this was cut makes this reissue better overall.
Sounds very good to these old ears ! I would recommend this recording.
I have an original copy that has some surface wear and this new copy sounds nice and clean and probably as good as the original did when it was new.
The music is glorious. Jazzy, well-written and performed, with lots of stars of the era.
The vinyl was completely quiet (no pops/clicks) and centered, but has a slight warp that should mostly flatten out after a couple of weeks under 15 lbs. of books. But it is playable (no skips).
