Box set promising more than it can deliver.....
This is the 'ultimate experience' box set of Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon, or , at least, it was intended to be. The second user copy I received come in very good condition with all the extras. I bought this because I got interested in the development of the 'Time' and 'Mortality' sequences, which were a work in progress whilst PF toured in 1972. PF had a busy year in '72, because they did the initial tour of what had become the 'Eclipse' tour in March, came back to the UK and recorded the film soundtrack 'Obscured by clouds', then re-commenced the Eclipse tour, with a couple of breaks to record the studio version of DSOTM. They completed the Eclipse tour in December and went back to the studio in January '73 to prepare the final version for it's release in March. So the box set contains 5 CDs and one Blu-ray DVD of material recorded over this time span. Unfortunately, there was a production issue with the Blu-ray DVD which results in the disc degrading over a period of time and becoming unplayable. Fortunately, all of the audio material is included on the CDs and DVD, so essentially everything is available. What was not included was a complete live recording of any of the Eclipse gigs, although there are several Bootleg versions available (the German gig in Boblingen is quite interesting). So there it is, not quite 'everything', Nick and David.

A collection of the various DSOTM remasters in High Resolution along with some excellent live extras.
There have of course been numerous previous releases of The Dark Side Of The Moon, however you do at least get the best ones here and in High Resolution. Whether you prefer the original, 1994, 2003 or 2011 remasters, they are all here. The highlight for me is the 1974 Live at Wembley recording which includes the whole DSOTM from beginning to end. The quality of the recording is on a par with the very best. One star removed due to the prevalence of dodgy Blu-ray disks, for which there are no longer any free replacements available. The packaging is of premium quality.

Let Me Count The Ways.....
This box set pretty much covers the full spectrum of the "Dark Side Of The Moon" recording production. So many format versions to choose from. Everything you ever wanted to know about this incredible musical work. How much do I love it?.....Let me count the ways! This is really a time capsule package!

Immersion box set for 'Dark Side of The Moon'
I think that this product was good value for money, considering what I paid for it. I have not opened the packaging, instead I watched someone on YouTube unpack theirs, this way the value of my purchase does not drop. I have heard 'Dark Side of The Moon' many, many times, I have an original recording of the entire album on a cassette which I bought when I was only 15 years old (I am 47 this year), then I have a remastered version on CD of the same album this is the 20th Anniversary edition, and then I have the live version of it, which is on the 'Pulse' album. For me this purchase was more of an investment and it was bought alongside 'The Wall' Immersion box set. To be quite honest I think that a lot of Pink Floyd merchandise is purely a repackaging exercise and whilst many of the albums sound perfect to me, I am not that interested in listening to the rough cuts of the tracks I have come to like and love as a way of seeing how they where developed in the studio. If I was 15 years old in the present day, the Immersion box sets for Pink Floyd are a must purchase, but if like me you have got ALL the albums, own the box sets, this additional purchase is purely for investment only and are an optional addition to your collection.

The perfect Dark Side box
It's superb value for money with some rare unissued material. You even get a bag of marbles with it. Just a really good item.
