TOMYTEC N scale motor chassis- smooth running power
TOMYTEC sells N scale Japanese prototype subway cars which are designed to be display pieces only. You can convert them to running models by using either TOMYTEC motor chassis's or trailer chassis's as needed. The box the car comes in usually indicates which model motor or trailer chassis you need for the conversion. Installation of this motor chassis was very easy requiring no tools. You start by spreading the car body slightly to pop out the dummy chassis and interior. Gently pry out the two side underframes from the dummy chassis and reinstall them on the motor chassis. Then mount the couplers to the trucks. It's a little tricky because the parts are small but they simply interlock and slide together. You have extra pieces to extend the couplers out from the car body if necessary. You probably will not need them which gives a nice close coupling between the cars. You then select the sideframes you want to use and press them onto the trucks. Press the motor chassis into the car body and it's done in a few minutes. The motor runs smoothly at all speeds. Low speed operation is good. It will pull at least 6 cars with TOMYTEC dummy chassis's with no problem. One note: the kit gives you a choice of 3 different sideframes however none of them matched two of the three style cars I was converting so I used the third style which was from the later style car. Just the job for my N gauge underground train
