If Monopoly had stocks
The first time I heard of this game was during a different minigame found in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep. The minigame had nearly the exact same concept, but missing the stock exchange feature.
I am surprised this game is as popular with seven different ports from NES to mobile devices. But there still isn't a physical board game of "Fortune Street" out yet. I think it's because the rules & values are significantly more complex than Monopoly:
For example, rent automatically increases when additional properties are owned. Additional "capital" or cash on hand plus stock values, can be spent on owned properties to increase their rent & stock values. Community chest & chance cards are exchanged with 100+ different venture cards placed on a 8 x 8 board. If 4 or more venture cards are picked in a row, there is a small bonus given to the player.
I enjoy an occasional game of Monopoly, but without turn limits or a timer, the game gets old after the 1st hour. That's what's great about Fortune Street, your butt won't fall asleep by the time a winner is claimed.
