Product Information

The player takes on the role of a dead man in Avenging Spirit. A victim of ruthless gangsters, the player's character is killed and his best girl is stolen away as the game begins. The hero must save his girlfriend but he is only a ghost now, incapable of interacting directly with the rest of the world. The object of Avenging Spirit is to rescue the kidnapped girl by inhabiting the bodies of living people and creatures encountered along the way. Some creatures are particularly quick or agile, while others may be especially tough or heavily armed. By possessing the bodies of various hosts, the ghost hero gains access to these different abilities. This can make a big difference when moving through a tricky area of the scrolling platform levels or facing a particularly dangerous enemy.

Wonderful port for an inferior Hardware!
Avenging spirit is an excellent game for the arcade and when you think of having it on the go you would think it be a terrible port for the Gameboy however it is actually very well. Despite the limitations of having no real color other than the green screen, the amazing anime style / Chibi art style is the dye for. To top it all off every enemy is playable, other than boss fights of course. You play as a young boy who recently died trying to protect his girlfriend, but thanks to her dad or grandfather (I am unsure) you get brought back as a spirit that can possess anyone needed to accomplish your goal of saving her. My only negative complaint I would have about the game would be that once you go off screen from where an enemy originally spawned and then go back the enemy reappears in the exact spot.
