Nib size: Fine (F). Nib material: Gold, 14K / pink gold plating. (2) Reason of “I don’t like it” or “I changed my mind”. (1) The wrong selection of the item.
The Platinum #3776 Century "Nice" (inspired by the city of Nice on the Côte d'Azur and the sunlight of Southern France) is a beautiful demonstrator pen. It has a frosted barrel which saves it from beeing too "blingy" and comes in some variations: with silver trimmings ("Nice Pur") and with coloured bodies ("Nice Lilas" and "Nice Lavande"), which are all pretty too, My favourite model is the "Rose", named after the rose gold trimmings. It's elegance pure.
This is my second Platinum #3776 Century; the other one is a Chartres Blue with a medium nib which I have come to love even above some great Sailor and Pilot pens from the same price range. It's become my everyday writing instrument. Now I wanted a second one with a fine nib for small paper formats and marginal notes, and fell for the charming looks of the Nice.
The 14k gold nib is rather stiff (no flex at all), but it has a subtle "swing" to it and is smooth-going, with just the right amount of feedback that tells you you are writing with a pen, not a rollerball. It is not scratchy at all, which can be an issue with fine nibs. The cap fits very well and keeps the ink wet for weeks and months, in the unlikely case you don't get to use it for a while. It's a rather light pen, and the grip section is not too slim - two features that are important to me as they allow me to write for hours without my hand tiring.
I don't post it, but it can be posted and still be well balanced.
The pen comes in a pretty cardboard box, cartridge and converter included. It's Platinum's silver top converter, not the gold one, which may seem odd with regard to the pen's gold trimmings, but I like it this way. I think the silver matches the rose gold trimmings better than the yellowish color of the golden converter.
A beautiful pen and a joy to write with!
