Originally aired to coincide with the nationally-adored soap opera's 50th anniversary, THE ROAD TO CORONATION STREET is a feature-length drama about creator Tony Warren's struggle to bring his vision to the small screen. Up against unenthusiastic Granada bosses Sidney and Cecil Bernstein (Steven Berkoff and Henry Goodman), Warren (David Dawson) is faced with the challenge of putting together an all northern cast to breath life onto the cobbled streets of Weatherfield. Celia Imrie, Jessie Wallace, James Roache and Lynda Baron all put in magnificent performances as some of Corrie's most legendary characters.

Beautiful archive document.
Well acted dramatization of the beginning of Coronation Street. I haven't watched the 'Street' for decades but this has given me an new appreciation of the programm.
