The built-in short center column of this Slik tripod helps you decrease the height of the tripod to just 6.4 inches off the ground, for extreme outdoor low-angle or macro photography. Excellent for the money!
Very light and compact, terrific for the hiking photographer. However, not as sturdy as the more substantial tripods available, but that is the tradeoff made with such an inexpensive/ compact tripod.
