NOT THE KARATE KID!
I know I read some reviews that felt this was too slow. I really think they miss the point of the movie. Jessie Eisenberg plays a fellow who is somewhat timid and subject to browbeating by his coworkers , One night on the way home from shopping for dog food for his dachshund, he is attacked by a motorcycle gang, landing him in the hospital. This only makes his fears stronger and one day, passing by a place that teaches karate/judo, he decides to go in and see what it is all about. The teacher takes an unusually strong interest in him, trying to get beyond his terrors and teaching him self-defense. The teacher has his own issues and eventually we see Eisenberg find he can overcome his fears. This is a quirky movie and if everyone thinks it is like Karate Kid, sorry! Brutal! Humorous! Highly Entertaining!
