This is a good movie and I have wanted it for some time. I had a 2 VHS set and transferred to 2 DVDs but was not happy with my results. I picked this copy up released by Alpha Video and it is on 1 DVD-r, it is watchable but would have liked a better transfer, it is about as good as the one I made from VHS. The other thing I did not like was the Alpha Video Watermark. The DVD and Case Art are nice enough. If you can find it under $6.00 new and don't already have a VHS copy it might be worth picking up.
Story of Jim Jones - Guyana Tragedy: Great TV movie & DVD.
It's haunting. Provides great acting that can pull the viewer into the action.
Maybe that power was more present in real life, among this flock and their misguided shepherd, than is comfortable to consider....
The story line sequence won't interrupt(it only intensifies) this sensation. It's the somehow muffled dialogue, possibly due to mechanical glitches that may have tangled 70's television technology & the subsequent DVD revolution, which plays the negative part.
Subtitles or closed captions were the only elements lacking for me with this movie.
I even enjoyed most of the Gospel music!
