Decent starter turntable
This turntable isn't too shabby. I do have a few complaints though.
To begin, I put it through a stress test. The cartridge has a tracking force of 3.8 grams, perfectly acceptable for this cartridge. Definitely won't chew up your records like a Crosley Cruiser would. It also has perfect anti-skating. The adjustable pitch slider is a nice touch, but it has the tendency to vary in speed slightly as the turntable spins. For me personally it plays slightly fast after a few songs, but it's easily fixable with the pitch slider. Perhaps it just needs to be broken in. You may have to adjust the speed for each individual LP you play as well due to every LP weighing a different amount. Next, I put on a very bass heavy LP (Daft Punk's Random Access Memories) to see if it would skip, and surprisingly it didn't. In terms of the build quality, you get what you pay for. It's a completely plastic build and lightweight, weighing at most 6 lbs. Not ideal but it's cheap. I didn't expect grand build quality. However, it's a very nice looking turntable. Very sleek. I love the smoked dust cover. Kind of has a vintage look to it. However, there's no phono/line switch, so the built-in pre-amp is unable to be deactivated. Not like you'd want to use an external pre-amp with this cartridge anyway. It wouldn't really make an audible difference. Lastly, both the power and audio cables are permanently attached to the turntable, so you won't be able to use cables of your own. It is what it is though.
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase. We'll see how it holds up after a few months.
