Dapol Prestwin Twin Silo OO gauge plastic wagon kid
This kit dates back to the 1960s when Airfix designed, made and sold via Woolworths, a range of two shilling boxed kits suitable for running on OO gauge layouts.Even after all this time, the kits remain some of the best ever made for the British market. The accuracy and engineering to make these wagons into accurate replicas in minature, with ease of build has never been surpassed. That said, care should be taken in building the Prestwin. Mine took two evenings of two or three hrs per session. It is possible, despite following the instructions (a lot smaller in reproduction than the former Airfix printed assembly guide) to build the silos wrongly- I did! When finished, the effort was worthwhile and I look forward to spray painting the model. You can brush paint it, but the superstructure has many nooks and crannys, made by the pipework and valves, better with a simple aerosol or airbrush. Delightful to build if challenging! Not for the novice modeller.
I had great difficulty trying to fit the sides of the under frame and positioning the wheels. This is possibly a lack of skill on my behalf. I just gave up. Sadly, I had bought two!! I am happy to admit that the low star marking is relative to me. A more skillful modeller might have given more stars and achieved a much better result. Exellent for kitbashing
I shall convert the Dapol silo wagon to the Finnish Silk silo wagon. The form and the dimensions on the silos are same. The Finnish wagon has three axles. So i shall use the Liliput chassis.Bestätigter Kauf: JaArtikelzustand: Neu
