Product Information

Capcom's 1996 blockbuster PlayStation game, which helped establish survival horror as a viable genre, is the subject of this enhanced remake exclusive to the GameCube. Franchise creator Shinji Makami has supervised the translation, which introduces real-time environmental effects designed to make the pre-rendered backgrounds more believable. Grass will sway in the wind, water will run, and blood will drip as players witness new animations for main characters Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine.<br><br>In addition to the refined visuals made possible by the jump from a 32-bit to a 128-bit system, Resident Evil features new voice-overs recorded to elicit a more dramatic mood than the stilted and monotone deliveries heard in the original. As players progress through the haunted mansion, battling zombies, ravens, dogs, and other undead creatures, a number of new bonuses can be unlocked. These include costumes, a different game mode, and additional weapons to extend the horror classic's core gameplay.

    One of the truly great games of all time

    Can't say enough about this brilliant game. A true milestone. Still looks and plays beautifully after all these years. Sure, you can get the HD version on modern consoles (which i did and loved), and the graphics are even more mind blowing, but there's nothing like playing the original version on the GameCube and experiencing how Capcom pushed the GameCube's hardware to it's absolute limit. And, as an installment in the Resident Evil series, it's rivaled only by Resident Evil 4 when it comes to gameplay and atmosphere, but still surpasses it in narrative, characterization, and visual storytelling (although RE2 comes pretty damn close-- dated graphics, bad voice acting and all). Simply put, Resident Evil on GameCube is an absolute must.

    resident at the beginning, kick ass

    I wanted this for years and got into a job that I can play games. yes, I care for my alzheimers mom. though I have an unlimited time to play games like this. I was a teenager when this came out. nice to play again. BTW: I do monitor mother very closely. im not an ass son. please don't let this detract from review. im a good person, and mom is well cared for. though, this game rocks. yes, im over 50 yrs old.

    Ah the old remake

    The original resident evil, was very excited to play this. Only problem I have is why Capcom? Why would you keep the fixed camera and bad controls? Otherwise a shining example of how to do a game remake

    Game and case are in excellent condition, it is great to add this to my collection. I consider it to be one of if not the best classic Resident Evil title
