High Caliber Melodrama
FNL is not really a sports show. It has some sports type action. But that isn't what it is. It is a classic melodrama, and an excellent one at that. If you enjoy family dramas, or serialized story telling in general, give it a go. It is one of the finest series ever on network TV.

Small town Texas football serves as the ultimate American metaphorical truth.
The best way to understand American white folk, their bullshit fantasies about 'freedom' and their Jekyll and Hyde rhetoric about the constitution, you will do well to study this show. Even if you are repelled by football, the situations, dialog and plotting are all interesting.

Great series, one of the best I've seen
Great series, can't stop watching! Wish it were more than 5 seasons, definitely a show worth watching. Engaging characters, and while football is the theme of the show, it's definitely NOT all about football!

Great TV Show
Best football TV show EVER. The cast and acting is solid and so likable, and the story feels so real. Another TV Show I’ve seen over and over, and a top 3 favorite! Enjoy watching.

the characters remind me of some I went to school with. The problems of growing up and the pains and love of family is touching.

You will be drawn in
I've watched the whole series twice and plan a third watching in the spring. A wonderful, wonderful series except for the unusual consumption of beer. Highly recommended !
