Product Information
The Lifetime original movie HOMELESS TO HARVARD tells the amazing true story of former troubled teen Liz Murray (Thora Birch in a gritty, affecting performance). Born into a poor, dysfunctional family led by a coke-addicted father and blind, HIV-positive mother (Kelly Lynch in an equally powerful performance), Liz spends her formative years exposed to the drugs and neglect that eventually drive her toward living on the streets of New York at age 15. It isn't until her mother's death from AIDS that Liz decides to turn her life around by going back to high school, becoming a star student, and earning a scholarship to Harvard University through an essay contest sponsored by the New York Times. This tough, unsparing account of Liz's personal transformation garnered three Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Made for Television Movie and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Made for TV Movie.
