History, in the words of those that were there.
This is history being shown and remembered. This one of the first actions by the US after the Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor, an audacious attack by 80 airmen in 16 airplanes never designed to take off from an aircraft carrier, and their deeds remembered. The video shows each crew that manned each plane, and tells of their history after the raid. As a kid, I read the book "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" in the series of books about historical moments of US history called "We were there." That book was written by the pilot of plane #7, the Ruptured Duck, Ted Lawson. If you have seen the movie "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" you envision Van Johnson as Ted Lawson. But the picture of him, with his crew in front of their plane, shows him to be tall and dark haired.
The video tells various little stories of members thoughts, from how they felt about the mission, Jimmy Doolittle, the war, etc. Thoughts that were passed along before the men were long gone, so those thoughts are preserved forever.
I am a WWII enthusiast, and this mission by these men is so important to so many things that happened in the Pacific after we were pulled into WWII. I gravitate to all kinds of stories of that period of time, and this one is premier.
I recommend it. Not only is it priced right, it hasn't been changed by anyone in Hollywood that wants to expound on their views of past history.
