The Sony SEL1855 lens is a standard zoom lens featuring smooth and silent autofocus capabilities and an E-type mount. This Sony lens also offers an angle of view from 76 degrees to 29 degrees. Equipped with Sony’s Optical SteadyShot image stabilization system, the 18 mm-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens produces sharp images without using a tripod and allows the user to capture blur-free images at shutter speeds up to four steps slower than possible without the system. Furthermore, the 3x zoom allows this Sony lens to capture distant details with clarity. The Sony SEL1855 lens is lightweight at just 6.9 oz, so that it can be transported while attached to a camera or in a camera bag without taking up much space or adding weight. This 18 mm-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 lens offers a focal length range equivalent to 27 mm-82.5 mm for a 35 mm camera, making it ideal for many types of photography, including close-up portraits and expansive landscapes.

    Trusty and good Sony lens.

    This is one of Sony's 'standard' lenses, meaning that it's not a premium lens. However, that doesn't make it a bad lens, just don't expect maximum bokeh and clarity. It was (and perhaps still is) a kit lens for several of Sony's cameras in the 6000 series. Of course, the price also reflects this, and taking the price into consideration it's good value for your money. It's a lens with solid build quality that will deliver time and time again for years. Also note that this is not a full form factor lens, it's intended for smaller sensors like you'll find in the A6000 series cameras.

    not the best but very ok for refurbished item

    The lens has distortion even when zoom is not being used, image gets "rounded". Manual focus is not really manual (at least on my Sony nex-c3),every time i try to use the "focus wheek" it zooms the picuture so I have to use switch to "precise zoom" configuration in order to work as I want to. Overall image quality is ok and very acceptable for beginners or people that don't want to invest much money It's not worth it's original price but is very worth if you buy it refurbished (which is half the price or less).

    Great Value purchase!

    Quite surprised about the high quality of this Sony 18-55mm 'kit' lens for my Sony Nex7...despite a couple mediocre magazine reviews, the images from it are quite sharp corner to corner and it completes very well with my legacy manual Nikkor lenses that I usually shoot on this camera. I paid less than 1/3 the retail price for it in like-new used condition on eBay..very happy.

    Sony 18-55 OSS e mount lens

    Certainly not the best lens out there but if you shoot at F8 it does pretty good. I purchased mostly for video recording because of the OSS and zoom range. If you want maximum sharp look to the 19,30,60mm primes from Sigma.

    Very nice object

    Definitely happy with my purchase. The lens is in perfect shape and works great! The zoom mechanism moves fluent and with no slacks. The overall image distortion at 28 is much less then the one shown by the "standard" power zoom lens (16-50) normally sold with Sony alpha cameras. Of course, this one (18-55) is not as small and portable as the other, but I think that one must decide which is his priority: shooting good pictures or saving space in the suitcase ....
