Mr. Herr withheld nothing ...
... his writing is clear, concise, honest; the entire book is one clean ride. It broke my heart while enraging my brain at the loss & stupidity. I couldn't put it down-as soon as I got it, I started reading. I'll wait a couple weeks & read it again. He is a hero to all the men & women who needed/wanted to have the American side of Vietnam told, with all its horrendous conditions & brutality, just like the "grunt" begged him to. Indeed, one of the most well written, thorough & impactful books I have read about Vietnam. I am soo glad Mr. Herr put this book out there. Classic book on Vietnam War.
