tiny powerful mic!
easy to use, compact and very powerful. I love it because you can carry it wherever you go easily. It can fit on small cameras and even your phone producing higher quality audio recording. No need to change battery and can be used outdoor.

Best portable shotgun mic!
Absolutely fantastic! At this price it's the best mic for gopro / dslr!! There's no point of even thinking about other models - get this one and you're set!

Nice little on camera mic
Fits nicely on my Fuji X-T2 Sound quality seems excellent It does what it says on the tin. Can't complain at its price if you want a no frills mic for vlogging etc.

Good value and easily set-up.
Bought this for my Grandson who has recently been recording his guitar, keyboard and vocal records with his Dad. Using a Nikon Z50 with 18-140 lens, the sound was reasonable but inevitably will pick up sound from the camera. The microphone has eliminated this background noise and being directional only picks up sound from the front. It was mounted and set up in minutes and size and weight are a good match for the Nikon Z50 set-up. My Grandson is extremely pleased with the Rode VideoMicro and it didn't break the bank.

Rode Video Micro DSLR shotgun Microphone
This microphone on the initial test is surprisingly very good. The sound quality is excellent and the pickup is really good too. There will be a need to experiment with lenses so that you are at the best distance from the Mic and to have the right amount of picture and focus. Very impressed with the quality of the product and the output sound quality.

Better than built in but not too obtrusive
Bought this as my previous Nex camera and older camcorders [remember them] all suffered to a degree with wind noise or distracting camera handling noise. My secondhand Sony A99 is much better but even that benefits from the wind noise this mic and it's wind muffler give [that is not pictured here]. However I do mount it on a bracket, NOT on the camera hotshoe and that reduces camera handling noise. Manual focus and fixed aperture help here too. Build is good and quality is better than many in this price range.

YouTube compact microphone
Doesn't need batteries, it's small and sound is good, if you want to hear it check out my YouTube channel 'swamp valley' I don't use software to edit my audio so that's it. If you want to use it through your phone you need to buy a separate cable.

Rode VideoMicro DSLR Shotgun Microphone
Great value microphone that attaches to the camera hot-shoe. Sound quality is better than when using the camera's built-in microphone - more directional and less background noise. The microphone itself is better constructed than I was expecting. The anti-vibration housing looks a little flimsy, but has stood up quite a bit of use. Mine came with a furry wind cover, which seems to do the job.

Rode to better sound
A solid performer. Lightweight, with a good shock mount. I can mount this on camera mounted on a gimbal. My camera had only a 2.5mm jack socket, but no real problem to solder on a new TRS 2.5mm jack plug. A sound upgrade from your cameras built in mic for sure. There may be higher spec sound recorders that work off camera, but they come at a price and involve extra work. There are Rode clones that may be slightly cheaper. Frequency response rolls off at low frequencies on the Rode compared to other types, which is not necessarily a bad thing, besides you can apply eq in post. No hesitation giving the Rode a 2 Thumbs Up!
